The consumer goods market in North China's Shanxi province operated steadily over the Spring Festival holiday from Feb 10 to 17.
Within eight days, 110 commercial and trade enterprises in Shanxi achieved a sales revenue of 691.94 million yuan ($96.13 million), marking a 5.4-percent year-on-year increase.
Across the province, major shopping centers also experienced an increase in the sales of holiday gift boxes, seasonal fruits, local specialties, health products, dairy products, beverages, and tobacco.
Additionally, there were notable year-on-year sales increases in grain and oil products (9.35 percent), clothing (3.77 percent), cosmetics (3.65 percent), furniture (9.52 percent), and petroleum related products (6.75 percent). Other products, such as beverages, tobacco, jewelry, cultural products, and communication equipment, also saw double-digit growth rates during this time period.
