This Chinese New Year holiday, Hechi will host a multitude of cultural and tourism activities featuring galas, light shows, and folk customs.
From Feb 1 to Feb 15, Changjiang, Changle, and Bachou towns in Donglan county will carry out traditional folk songs on bronze drums to pray for a better life in the new year.
On Feb 23, Nandan county will host an important festival of the Baiku Yao people – the Baiku Yao New Year street festival – at the Yaowangtianxia Scenic Area.
The event will showcase a vibrant array of traditional ethnic sports competitions such as cockfighting, archery, and spinning tops, as well as exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage items such as the traditional bronze drum dance, offering a vivid display of Baiku Yao folk culture.
From Feb 6 to 24, Luocheng Mulam autonomous county will hold the Zoupo Festival (a traditional social festival for young men and women of the Mulam ethnic group.) at the Luocheng Cultural Square and Chenglong Lake Park, featuring galas and exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage items.
Dragon and lion dances will be performed in Jinchengjiang district, Yizhou district, Luocheng Mulam autonomous county, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, and Nandan county. Mountain song gatherings will also be held to promote Hechi's mountain song culture.
