"We have instant noodles and hot water here. Please come and get them for free!" said a staff member from the snow clearing and traffic support team of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on Feb 6. This announcement was aimed at stranded travelers at the Wuhan West Toll Station on the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, to meet the basic needs of drivers and passengers stranded on the road due to the severe frozen rain.

After learning about the predicament of these people, who were just trying to make their way home, the zone promptly arranged its bureaus of city management, transportation, civil affairs, health and related sub-streets to form a special snow clearing and traffic support team. They mobilized Master Kong Holdings Co and other companies to provide instant noodles, bread, biscuits, hot water, bottled water, cotton coats, blankets, medical supplies, and other materials to the drivers and passengers.

Dongfeng Motor Co provided free engine oil and washing fluid for vehicles. The team also guided the diversion of vehicles and cleared space for large mechanical equipment to enter the expressway to clear congested sections. This ensured the smooth restoration of traffic flow.
