A soccer match was staged at a village gala in Rongjiang county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Feb 3, which also marked Little New Year, or Xiaonian in Chinese.
Soccer players from Guizhou and Macao competed on the field, attracting audiences from across the country. On the field, the players gave it their all, while outside the field, the audiences cheered them on.
The players from both teams are amateur soccer enthusiasts who work in various industries. Even though they come from different places, professions, and age groups, they all shared a strong passion and dedication for soccer.
"This is my first time playing in front of such a large crowd, and the atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is very enthusiastic, and we have prepared some gifts to exchange with the Guizhou players," said Li Zhenglin, a player of the Macao soccer team.
Li was impressed by the hospitality and the local ethnic culture in Guizhou, and looks forward to visiting again given the chance.
To celebrate Little New Year, the Macao soccer team presented a "drunk dragon dance", which is an intangible cultural heritage that was performed to bless the people of Guizhou.
"Our purpose in coming here is to promote friendship and cultural exchange between both sides," said Lin Jinxiong, the head of the Macao soccer team.
The team consisted of more than 80 people. The Macao soccer uniforms displayed cultural elements, such as the golden lotus flower and the Ruins of St. Paul's. The visiting team also immersed themselves in local ethnic customs, facilitating cultural exchanges.
