2024 Taihu Shopping Festival to distribute 80m yuan in coupons

The 2024 Taihu Shopping Festival was unveiled in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Feb 1. It will run until Feb 24, looking to spur consumption over the following Spring Festival holiday, which spans from Feb 10 to 17.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, Feb 9, municipal authorities will distribute 60 million yuan ($8.36 million) in coupons, while authorities of Jiangyin and Yixing as well as local financial institutions each will issue 10 million yuan in coupons.

Starting from Jan 31, overseas tourists will enjoy refund of duties at five local shopping malls, that is, Grant Orient, Suning Plaza, Sanyang Parkson, Cheerful City on Zhongshan Road, Yaohan.

These coupons can be used at over 2,000 local businesses, involving supermarkets, catering, home appliances, vehicles and more.

Additionally, from Feb 9 to 17, all subway lines and buses (excluding customized buses) in the city will be free to ride

During the same period, the Lingshan Mountain scenic area, Three Kingdoms City, and the Town of the Water Margin scenic area will each offer 3,000 free tickets per day, the 5A-level scenic area Yuantouzhu and 14 other attractions will offer half-price tickets, and 28 other attractions, including the Wuxi Museum, will be open to the public free of charge.

About 200 activities revolving around Spring Festival celebrations will be held throughout the city to help promote consumption during the shopping festival.
