A summit titled "green, low-carbon, and high-quality development speeding up the achievement of dual carbon goals" was held in Qingdao, Shandong province on Jan 27.
The summit was aimed at exploring a new model for the circular economy and further igniting China's dual carbon strategy. The government officials and experts in attendance delved into in-depth research and discussions on the concept and practices of green, low-carbon, and high-quality development in industries such as new energy, agriculture, the environment, and resource recycling.
Dong Renjie, a professor at China Agricultural University (CAU), explained the significant role of biogas engineering technology in the reduction of greenhouse gases and substitution of fossil fuels against the backdrop of global climate change. He said that the implementation of the dual carbon strategy has brought about unprecedented opportunities for the development of the biogas industry.
Wu Ronghua, a professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology, provided a comprehensive introduction to the development of system technology for regional clean energy heating in urban construction in a dual carbon context. He added that the large-scale application of clean energy regional heating systems is a crucial way to address the energy crisis in the heating industry and to advance the dual carbon goals.
Researcher Yang Junxiang from the department of green development of livestock farming of the National Animal Husbandry Service conducted an in-depth exploration of five major areas concerning the current status and accounting methods of carbon emissions in the livestock industry, the development path of carbon trading projects in the livestock industry, and the analysis and management of carbon emissions reduction in the livestock industry.
Qu Xuxian, chief expert of the livestock farming station of Shandong province, explained recent developments in the livestock industry in Shandong and said that Shandong will actively work to develop a robust and modern livestock industry, becoming a model for the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the industry.
