On Jan 22-23, Ye Niuping, mayor of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, led a delegation to visit South Korea for collaboration and exchange purposes.
The delegation visited enterprises such as Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI, and Samsung Biologics, gaining insights into their current development and future plans, and conducting in-depth discussions on further deepening pragmatic cooperation, expanding cooperation areas, and achieving mutually beneficial development.
Ye stated that Xi'an boasts significant advantages in terms of its geographical location, unique historical and cultural resources, abundant scientific and educational innovative talents, and a robust industrial foundation.
In recent years, Xi'an and South Korea have had frequent exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, industry, and humanities, and yielded fruitful results. The formal opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Xi'an in 2007 has further facilitated a platform to enhance communication and friendship between the two sides, Ye added.
He further highlighted that Xi'an is currently accelerating the construction of a national central city, and holds enormous potential for development in various fields, such as electronics, biomedicine, and new energy vehicles.
Xi'an has always attached great importance to the investment and development of South Korean enterprises, and will continue to optimize its business environment to provide more convenient conditions for corporate development, the mayor said.
People from South Korean enterprises expressed that Xi'an possesses strong scientific and educational capabilities, a complete industrial system, and an ample reserve of talents. The city also has an open and inclusive urban environment, and broad prospects for development, making it the preferred destination for foreign investment and development.
Over the years, with strong support from the city government, South Korean companies that have settled in Xi'an have achieved significant development. They intend to further increase investment in the city, deepen practical cooperation in more areas, and achieve mutually beneficial cooperation at a higher level.
During the visit, Ye also met with Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, and attended a seminar focusing on South Korea semiconductor companies that have settled in the Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone. At this event, Ye introduced Xi'an's investment environment and industrial advantages.
