Xue Lina, who runs an agricultural cooperative in Tai'an and is a deputy to the Shandong Provincial People's Congress, was inspired by the rural vitalization content mentioned in the government work report.
"The report emphasized the promotion of agricultural and rural work, focusing on the goals of increasing the single-crop yields of grain and oil crops, strengthening the development of agricultural platforms for scientific and technological innovation, and cultivating breakthroughs in new varieties, which has been truly inspiring and uplifting to me," Xue said.
Since last year, Xue's agricultural cooperative has been focusing on grain cultivation and seed breeding, emphasizing the improvement of grain yields and the establishment of a national agricultural new crop variety demonstration and evaluation base. The cooperative has successively established a 40-hectare agricultural technology demonstration base and actively collaborated with agricultural research institutes to carry out experiments, demonstrations, and promotions of new varieties, new technologies, new agricultural machinery, and smart agriculture.
Seeds are the core of agriculture and are important in ensuring national food security. Xue said that her cooperative has developed independent wheat varieties suitable for cultivation in high-fertility waterlogged areas in the province.
The successful cultivation of new wheat varieties represents a key breakthrough for the cooperative in seed source critical technology and biological breeding.
"We will continue to bolster our efforts in scientific research and development, cultivating new varieties of wheat that are high yield, high quality, and have good resistance in order to contribute to the comprehensive development of rural vitalization," Xue added.
