The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the 2023 list of top green manufacturing enterprises. There are 25 Wuhan-based companies included in the list, and among them, seven are located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
The list identifies green manufacturing businesses across China that will lead the sustainable transformation of industries. A total of 1,488 green workshops, 104 green industrial parks, and 205 green supply chain management firms were selected in the 2023 list.
Green workshops need to be assessed comprehensively in terms of infrastructure, management systems, energy and resource investment, pollutant emissions and environment KPI. The six WEDZ enterprises that have earned their titles as green workshops include the Wuhan Branch of Zhejiang Geely Automobile Co, Midea Group Wuhan Refrigeration Equipment Co, and VOYAH Automobile Technology Co.
The evaluation of green supply chain management is based on green supply chain managing strategies within enterprises, as well as their suppliers, production and recycling processes. Lear Dongfeng Automotive Seating Co in WEDZ is the only Hubei enterprise to clinch the honorary title.
Thanks to the zone's continuous efforts to encourage green manufacturing practices among automobiles, auto spare parts, food and beverage and other sectors, a group of green workshops have been created. These workshops feature optimized land usage, the use of pollution-free raw materials, clean production, low-carbon energy consumption, and waste reclamation systems.
So far, the zone boasts 10 such national green workshops and two State-level green supply chain management firms.
