Heavy snow swept through most parts of Hunan province on Monday, blanketing the landscape in shimmering white and prompting tourists to take advantage of the beautiful scene at the Wulingyuan scenic area in Zhangjiajie.
According to the provincial meteorological center, 27 counties recorded five centimeters of snow from 7 am on Sunday to 7 am on Monday.
Nine counties recorded more than 10 cm of snow, with the maximum snowfall reaching 20 cm in Xinhua county.
The center renewed a blue alert for heavy snow and a yellow alert for low temperature at 6 am on Monday. China has a four-tier weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
