The delicacies of Wuxi in Jiangsu province took the spotlight in a recent episode of the popular gourmet program Home for Dinner, aired on China Central Television, or CCTV.

Which delectable dishes were featured on the show?

The irresistible braised spare ribs in brown sauce stole the spotlight. With a tantalizing bright red hue, the spare ribs are enveloped in a thick sauce and the bones are crispy enough to eat.

Small steamed stuffed buns, or xiaolongbao, often amaze people from other cities with their thin skin and juicy gravy. A sweet taste lingers after the second bite, leaving diners craving for more.

Boasting a history of over 1,00 years, Liangxi crisp fried eel stands out as a shining pearl among Wuxi's cold dishes. Of the various eel cuisines in China, the Liangxi dish requires the most intricate cooking, never failing to impress its diners.

While thin in summertime, Taihu Lake's treasured black carp becomes a plump delicacy in winter. Braised black carp in brown sauce is celebrated for its tender meat, coupled with a delightful balance of sweet and salty flavors—the perfect dish to pair with wine.

During festivals and celebrations, Wuxi natives savor meat-filled gluten, which can be prepared either boiled in water or braised in brown sauce. Collectively known as the three specialties of Wuxi, meat-filled gluten, braised spare ribs in brown sauce and Huishan clay figurines hold a special place in the hearts of locals.
