An aerospace information university, the first of its kind in China, is currently under construction at No 2 Daxue Road, Zhangqiu district, Jinan.
A provincial public undergraduate institution sponsored by the People's Government of Shandong Province, the new university is included in the Ministry of Education's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for higher education institutions.
The campus spans 74.87 hectares and has buildings occupying 143,000 square meters.
The university will cover the entire field of aerospace information technology and focus on three major areas: aerospace, information technology, and earth observation.
With regard to cutting-edge and cross-disciplinary fields such as aerospace communication and deep space exploration, the university will build a disciplinary system that emphasizes engineering, integrates science and engineering, coordinates science, engineering, management, law, and arts, and promotes cross-disciplinary integration.
According to the plan, the university will establish colleges for electronic information, electronics and integrated circuits, and remote sensing science and technology, and offer 11 undergraduate majors related to communication, navigation, and remote sensing.
The planned enrollment scale is 10,000 students, including 5,000 undergraduates, 3,000 master's students, and 2,000 doctoral students.
This university will not only enhance the scientific research and talent capabilities in the aerospace information field for Shandong and Jinan, but also drive local technological innovation and economic development. Furthermore, it will provide strong support for China's technological innovation and international competitiveness in this field.
