According to the Hohhot municipal bureau of industry and information technology, as of 2023, the city is home to 111 regional-level innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, 38 "specialized, refined, special, and new" small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and five national-level "specialized, refined, special, and new" and "little giant" enterprises.
In recent years, to further deepen the cultivation of "specialized, refined, special, and new" SMEs, the capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has implemented a gradient cultivation action plan, which focuses on building a gradient cultivation system for high-quality SMEs.
Focusing on the city's "six major industrial clusters", Hohhot has established a repository for cultivating high-quality SMEs around key industrial clusters and industrial chains. It also strengthened dynamic management, conducted effective tracking and monitoring, implemented precise cultivation, and empowered SMEs to grow towards the "specialized, refined, special, and new" category, thus empowering the city's high-quality economic development.
