Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province recently gained approval to set up a provincial-level workstation for technology property trading, making it the only district in Nantong with such a facility.
The establishment of the facility is expected to help turn the technological achievements of local enterprises into something that can be mass-produced.
The approval to set up the workstation signifies Tongzhou's commitment to fostering the innovative capabilities of local high-tech enterprises.
Over the past year, Tongzhou has orchestrated effective collaborations between more than 200 enterprises and research experts, leading to the implementation of 162 university-enterprise cooperation projects, according to Cao Xiaojiang from Tongzhou's bureau of science and technology.
The collaboration between businesses and academic institutions has propelled the development of high-tech enterprises in the district.
In 2023, Tongzhou recommended 289 high-tech enterprises for recognition, marking an 18.4-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022. The district also added eight new provincial-level engineering technology research centers last year.
From January to November 2023, Tongzhou's high-tech industry output accounted for 55.1 percent of the total in the district, marking a 9-percent increase year-on-year.
