Qingdao, a coastal city in China's eastern Shandong Province, has been accelerating its green, low-carbon and high-quality development in recent years to build a complete green industry innovation ecosystem.
Qingdao has to date created 57 green factories at or above the provincial level, seven national-level smart manufacturing demonstration factories, 24 service-oriented manufacturing demonstrations, and 44 national-level green manufacturing lists.
In Doublestar Tire's intelligent factory, various intelligent equipment are used on the production line. According to Li Degong, the person in charge of the smart chemical factory, the factory is partially powered by the 200,000 square meters of solar photovoltaic panels which generate 20 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
Qingdao has also adopted green and low-carbon concepts in every aspect of the industry's development.

Hisense Group, a home appliance developer and producer, has created an industry precedent for the application of bio-based material products which can reduce the carbon content of high-strength structural parts of refrigerators such as refrigerator drawers by 50 percent.
The city has also accelerated the launch of key green projects such as the China Power Construction Qingdao Jimo offshore photovoltaic power generation project. The project, which is located on the shore of Aoshan Bay, is set to generate approximately 1.92 billion kilowatt-hours of power per year and reduce the annual consumption of coal by 550,000 tons. The project will also explore more new energy application scenarios in the future.
