Jinan is aiming for the scale of its four pillar industries – big data and next-generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing and high-end equipment, high-quality steel and advanced materials, and biopharmaceuticals and healthcare – to reach 1.8 trillion yuan ($252.15 billion) in 2024.
To do so, Jinan will enhance industrial innovation through technological innovation, coordinate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, develop emerging industries, as well as drive the development of the digital industry, industrial digitalization, and integrated computing and networking.
Jinan will also prioritize the development of four dominant pillar industries and 10 iconic industrial clusters, said Ji Peide, director of the Jinan municipal bureau of industry and information technology.
In terms of technological innovation, Jinan will help enterprises to achieve major national technological breakthroughs.
Jinan will focus on industries such as steel, chemicals, building materials, petrochemicals, and food, and aim to implement over 300 key technology transformation projects every year. Additionally, local authorities will bolster efforts to develop one to two emerging industries.
Jinan is expecting its software and electronic information manufacturing industries to generate operating revenues of 570 billion yuan and 170 billion yuan respectively by 2024. The city will also be looking to build 7,000 new 5G base stations within the year.
In addition, Jinan will continue to introduce high-quality development implementation plans to guide its 10 iconic industrial cluster chains. The aim is to form one to two provincial-level advanced manufacturing clusters, two "geese-shaped" clusters, and one characteristic industry cluster for small and medium-sized enterprises.
