Guiyang winter swimming event attracts some 500 participants

The 39th Winter Swimming and Single Bamboo Rafting Open Competition for Adults in Guiyang took place in the city's Guanshanhu district on Dec 31, 2023.

The two events attracted 20 winter swimming teams made up of nearly 500 winter swimming enthusiasts and three single bamboo rafting teams from various counties and districts in Guiyang.

From breaststroke to freestyle and backstroke, participants showcased their graceful swimming styles, embracing the joy of winter swimming.

"Winter swimming not only exercises the body but also strengthens one's mental resilience," said Mr Liu, a winter swimming enthusiast who has been swimming for over 10 years. His improved physical condition is the main reason why he continues to engage in the sport.

In recent years, Guiyang has been working to become a national model city for mass sports and fitness, organizing events to promote nationwide fitness activities.
