According to statistics, Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received a total of 1.35 million domestic tourists during the three-day New Year holiday, a year-on-year increase of 205.7 percent, generating a domestic tourism revenue of 891 million yuan ($125 million), a year-on-year increase of 336.06 percent.
On Jan 1 alone, Hohhot received 524,800 domestic tourists, a year-on-year increase of 265.49, generating 341 million yuan in domestic tourism revenue, a year-on-year increase of 414.97 percent.
During the holiday period, Hohhot ranked first in both the average daily number of domestic tourists and the total number of visitors in the autonomous region.
The significant growth in domestic tourism numbers and revenue highlights Hohhot's appeal as a tourist destination. The city's rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and festive atmosphere during the holiday season have attracted a large number of visitors.
