As the Spring Festival approaches, workers are busily making lanterns at a factory in Yangzhao village of Jishan county, Yuncheng city in Shanxi province.
In accordance with the traditional process of making lanterns, the workers craft various lanterns to fulfill orders from markets across the country, making for a busy scene.
With a history of more than 100 years of lantern-making, the village has promoted it as a core brand industry to help local farmers start businesses and increase their incomes.
In 2008, the village's traditional lantern-making skill was listed as a city-level intangible cultural heritage in Yuncheng.
There are around 1,000 villagers involved in the industry, and as many as 10 million pairs of lanterns can be produced annually, with an output value of 100 million yuan ($14.03 million).
