Guiyang Ahahu National Wetland Park in Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently made the list of the first batch of "National Forest and Grassland Science Popularization Bases", becoming the only one in the province to receive such an honor.
A "National Forest and Grassland Science Popularization Base" is an important part of national characteristic science popularization bases.
It relies on such forest and grassland resources as wetlands, wild animals and plants to carry out natural education and ecological experience activities, display forest and grassland science and technology achievements, and showcase ecological civilization practice achievements.
The base is jointly named and managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
Aha Lake National Wetland Park is the first national wetland park in Guiyang, with a total area of 1,024.71 hectares. It is located in the main urban area of Guiyang, enjoying an important geographical location and a unique wetland ecosystem.
It has become a "paradise of life" for urban wildlife and an "ecological guardian" for the city.
Every year, more than 260 forestry science popularization and education courses and large-scale activities are held in the park, with over 70,000 people participating, making it a green space shared and cherished by the public.
Moving forward, the park will continue to popularize scientific knowledge, keep enhancing its capacity to accommodate such popularization and educational services; and contribute to comprehensively improving the scientific quality and ecological awareness of the public, while also promoting ecological civilization construction and the high-quality development of the national park industry.
