Jinan in Shandong province was honored as a "2023 Annual Dynamic City" during the 2023 Dynamic City Conference organized by China Newsweek in Beijing on Dec 22.
On Jan 31, a short video titled Illuminated Chaoran Pavilion in the Evening quickly went viral on China's popular short video-sharing platform Douyin, accumulating more than 100 million views in just seven seconds.
Chaoran Pavilion is the focal point of Jinan's efforts to develop a new development pattern for tourism, which involves popular attractions within the city.
Jinan is renowned for its springs, which have been around for some 8,000 years.
The city's comprehensive strength is ranked 14th in the country, and the scale of its four leading industries has crossed the 1.4 trillion yuan ($197.06 billion) threshold. Jinan is the largest production base for heavy-duty trucks, the largest ultra-high-voltage transmission and transformation equipment base, and the largest server manufacturing base in the country. Its digital economy and high-tech industries account for 47 percent and over 56 percent of the nation's total respectively.
As a megacity with a population exceeding 10 million, Jinan regards talents as the "first resources". It has recently upgraded its talent policy to attract professional from around the world.
Jinan is also home to 1,209 natural springs. In recent years, it has established more than 1,100 urban parks and taken steps to enhance its spring water direct drinking project.
