Three major cultural facilities in Beijing's sub-city center opened to the public on Wednesday afternoon. The facilities include the Beijing Library, the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing, and the Beijing Performing Arts Center and will cater to the diverse recreational interests of residents.
The construction of the three facilities commenced on Oct 28, 2019, in Beijing's Tongzhou district, where the city's sub-center is located. They were completed in November 2023.
"Those three facilities will allow people to enjoy the best cultural products and services near their homes and promote the public sharing of the fine arts," said Yin Yong, mayor of the capital, at the opening ceremony on Wednesday morning.
According to the city government, the center will feature several performances this afternoon.
