Recently, the Wuhan municipal bureau of economy and informatization released the 2023 list of top 10 outstanding application scenarios for the industrial metaverse in Wuhan.
These 10 scenarios cover multiple fields, including high-end equipment manufacturing, medical health, industrial product design simulation, industrial simulation training, and fashion design.
At the end of 2022, Wuhan issued the Action Plan for Promoting the Innovative Development of the Metaverse Industry in Wuhan (2022-25), mentioning over 50 typical application scenarios and projects to be created related to the metaverse and key industries.
The industry categorizes the metaverse into industrial metaverse, corporate metaverse, and consumer metaverse. Wuhan is one of the first pilot cities for the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises. It is also a new industrialization demonstration base for industrial internet.
By leveraging the industrial metaverse, Wuhan can promote industrial digital transformation, stimulate technological and industrial innovation, and accelerate digital economic development.
Wuhan is also one of the first cities to pilot a 5G scale test network in China, and it has the only national top-level node for industrial internet identification and resolution in Central China.
According to the global consulting firm Gartner, it is predicted that by 2027, some 47 percent of enterprises will enter the industrial metaverse and adopt technologies such as massive connectivity, high computing power, and digital twins.
Wuhan Onew Technology Co's large-scale industrial painting robot project, which is based on the metaverse, is one of the 10 scenarios. The AI spray-painting robots undergo continuous training in spray-painting techniques 24/7.
In the metaverse, spray-painting paths are automatically generated and simulated. The spray-painting results are also evaluated and iteratively improved within the metaverse for quality assessment and feedback.
