Dalian, Liaoning province, is committed to expanding high-level opening-up and forging new frontiers for cooperation, the city's annual economic work conference, which concluded on Saturday, emphasized.
Xiong Maoping, deputy Party chief of Liaoning and Party chief of Dalian, in a speech during the two-day gathering, said the city's economic development in 2023 had shown significant improvement, especially in quality and efficiency.
He said efforts will be made in 2024 to enhance economic vitality, prevent and resolve risks, improve social expectations, promote substantial improvement in quality and make reasonable growth in quantity.
As for expanding high-level opening-up, he said the city would accelerate institutional opening-up, promote the integration and upgrading of the Dalian Area of the China (Liaoning) Pilot Free Trade Zone and expedite the construction of the RCEP (Dalian) International Business District.
The city will also focus on enhancing its functions as a major shipping and logistics hub, consolidating the fundamentals of foreign trade and foreign investment while improving the business environment.
Additionally, efforts will be made to vigorously develop the exhibition economy, enhancing the aggregation effects of exhibitions on investment, trade, talent and projects, Xiong said.
