Hangzhou named among China's top 10 meteorological tourism cities

Hangzhou, recently celebrated for hosting the Asian Games, has been recognized as one of the top 10 Meteorological Tourism Cities in China for 2023.

The distinction was announced at the Second China Meteorological Tourism Industry Development Conference in Sanmenxia, Henan and witnessed by over 300 guests from cultural and tourism departments, meteorological agencies, and related research institutions across 27 provinces.

At the conference, Hangzhou was introduced as a new addition to the list of Meteorological Tourism Cities for 2023.

Hangzhou stood out from 159 domestic cities in measuring 25 detailed indicators related to five dimensions of meteorological tourist attractions, tourists and industrial economy, policy support and infrastructure, environmental protection and tourism sustainability, and climate suitability.

Hangzhou secured the top spot among the 10 cities, followed by Qingdao, Guilin, Tongren, Yantai, Kunming, Dalian, Chengde, Guiyang, and Nanning.

Meteorological culture and tourism, as emerging interdisciplinary fields at the intersection of meteorological resources and the tourism industry, not only inject new vitality into the tourism sector but also reflect multiple values in economic, cultural, and environmental sustainability.
