The passenger throughput of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport in 2023 exceeded 40 million on Dec 18, becoming the ninth airport in the country to surpass the mark this year.
During this year's summer travel season, the airport actively coordinated with various airlines to increase wide-body aircraft on popular tourist routes, and the single-day flight volume and passenger volume hit new highs.
After entering the traditional off-season, the airport's production has remained stable and orderly, with an average of 800 flights and 105,000 passengers per day, and it has cultivated popular routes to Xiamen, Changsha, Hangzhou, Urumqi, Sanya, and Kunming.
The airport has opened routes to Astana, Almaty, Ashgabat, Tashkent, Bishkek, and Dushanbe, taking advantage of the China-Central Asia Summit.
In 2023, the airport opened or resumed 25 routes to Asia, Europe, and Oceania, with the number of domestic and international navigation points increasing to 170.
Also, the passenger travel experience has been further optimized. In the first three quarters, the airport's average satisfaction score of Civil Aviation Passenger Service Evaluation was 4.14 points, ranking eighth among airports in the same category.
Currently, the third phase of the airport expansion project is under construction and in full swing. It is expected to be ready for operation by the end of 2024, and the airport's business scale will achieve an exponential jump.
