KFC's Grand Canal restaurant in Hangzhou's Wulinmen Wharf marked a significant occasion on Dec 15. With the opening, KFC, a leading fast-food brand in China, surpassed 10,000 stores, achieving yet another milestone in its brand history.

The Ministry of Commerce extended a congratulatory letter to Yum China, the parent company of KFC. The Ministry recognized Yum China's positive investment and operational activities in China, acknowledging the substantial success achieved and the significant contribution made to China's economic and social development. The Ministry encouraged the company to continue expanding its investment, deepening its presence in the Chinese market, and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation.

Joey Wat, CEO of Yum China, remarked, "In 1987, KFC arrived in China, opening its first Western-style fast-food chain in Qianmen, Beijing. Over the past 36 years, we have stayed true to our original mission, spreading delicious food and joy. By 2026, our goal is to have KFC's food and services reach over 700 million consumers in China, achieving a growth of over 50 percent in patron size."
