Dinghai makes efforts to bolster marine manufacturing industry

Dinghai district in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province has in recent years been channeling more resources into boosting its marine manufacturing sector as part of efforts to achieve high-quality development of the marine economy.

For example, this year authorities released guidelines on promoting the high-quality development of foreign trade, attracting more foreign-funded projects, and advancing the integrated development of domestic and foreign trade.

The district has attracted projects related to marine electronic information and petrochemical new materials.

The district has established the Dinghai Ningbo Collaborative Innovation Center in Ningbo, which will prioritize industrial transfer projects from Ningbo related to new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, marine electronic information, and marine biopharmaceuticals.

Dinghai has also established a special task force in Ningbo to conduct regular engagement with target enterprises, established cooperative ties with more than 70 companies, and attracted projects related to snack food and aquatic products processing.

In addition, authorities are also tapping into its natural resources such as coastlines and idle land and factories to provide substantial support to marine engineering investors.
