Shanxi rolls out measures to boost energy electronics industry

The Shanxi Department of Industry and Information Technology released a circular on Dec 13 promoting the development of the energy electronics industry. 

Shanxi province aims to build an energy electronics industry with an output value in excess of 300 billion yuan ($42.04 billion), incubate a handful of companies with industry-leading capabilities, and establish a sound talent cultivation system by 2030. 

To achieve these goals, the province will strengthen its cultivation and attraction of upstream and downstream enterprises focusing on the photovoltaic manufacturing industry chain, accelerate the development of high-efficiency and low-cost crystalline silicon solar cells and advanced and applicable intelligent photovoltaic modules, as well as enhance its large-scale production capacity. 

Support will be provided for the development of high-purity silicon materials, monocrystalline silicon rods, large-sized silicon wafers, and other products to form upstream material supporting capabilities. 

Greater support will be given to the research, development, and production of key technological equipment and raw materials. 

The province will also encourage the research, development and promotion of intelligent unmanned power station operation and maintenance systems, safe and convenient household intelligent photovoltaic systems, mobile energy products, as well as innovative intelligent photovoltaic products. 

Efforts will be also made to promote the research and industrial application of photovoltaic component recycling and utilization technologies. 

In the field of new energy storage batteries, the province will strengthen its cultivation and introduction of upstream and downstream enterprises, and support the research and development of key technologies such as long-life, high safety, and large-scale and large-capacity energy storage. 

It will also enhance the strength of lithium battery negative electrode materials, membrane materials, and other advantageous products, and promote the large-scale application of advanced energy storage technologies and products. 

In addition, Shanxi will accelerate the construction of intelligent factories in key areas such as photovoltaic cells and battery materials, and advance the digital transformation of key processes.
