Xi'an Moat Water Conservancy Scenic Spot wins national recognition

The Ministry of Water Resources announced its list of typical cases of the high-quality development of national water conservancy scenic spots in 2023, and 10 cases including the Xi'an Moat Water Conservancy Scenic Spot made the cut.

The Xi'an Moat, which combines a sound ecological landscape, leisure and entertainment, and flood storage and detention functions, is not only an important part of the Xi'an's water control project, but also a high-quality urban public open space.

Since the scenic spot was recognized as a national water conservancy scenic spot by the Ministry of Water Resources in 2018, the Xi'an City Wall Management Committee has carried out renovation, upgrading, development and utilization of the Xi'an Moat.

The water environment management of the moat has been implemented from four aspects: source control, pollution prevention, restoration, and reduced emissions.

A comprehensive system integrating the safety and protection of cultural relics, rainfall and water information, and data about flooding has been built.

Guided by a strong sense of innovation, the Xi'an City Wall Management Committee empowers water ecological management with digitalization and intelligence, promoting comprehensive research on water bodies, and helping iterative upgrades in water environment management.

The first smart sightseeing cruise ship has been introduced to open up new interactive scenarios using smart technology on the water surface, allowing people to enjoy activities like rafting as well as time-honored customs like stove-boiled tea.

The Xi'an City Wall Management Committee will continue to inject new vitality into promoting the high-quality development of water conservancy tourism.
