Fang Shizhong, director of the administration, said that Shanghai is an important window to showcase Chinese culture, and that the city also functions as a strategic link between domestic and international dual circulations.
"We hope that the campaign themed 'Visit Shanghai' will be a grand new start to better promoting Shanghai's international tourism image to the world and enticing more overseas tourists to come experience the modernity and magic of Shanghai," he said.
Data from the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism show that Shanghai is the No 1 port for inbound tourism in China. The city received nearly 2.3 million inbound tourists in the first three quarters of this year. The figure for the entire year is expected to be more than 3 million.
