The high-speed railway connecting Jinan in East China's Shandong province and Puyang in Central China's Henan province went into operation on Dec 8, marking the completion of Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway, which greatly shortens the travel time between Shandong's Qingdao and Henan's Zhengzhou.
According to the plan, the opening of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway will reduce the travel time between Zhengzhou and Qingdao to less than four hours, further reducing the spatial distance between the Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration and the Central Plains' urban agglomeration.
The Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway starts from Jinan West Railway Station, passing through Jinan and Liaocheng in Shandong province, and then through Puyang, Anyang, Xinxiang and Zhengzhou cities in Henan province. The total length of the line is 407 kilometers, with a design speed of 350 km per hour. The Puyang to Zhengzhou section has been put into operation since June 2022. The newly-opened Jinan and Puyang section has a total length of 208 km and includes seven stations such as Jinan West Railway Station and Liaocheng West Railway Station.
With a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, passengers can take high-speed trains from Jinan West Railway Station directly to Zhengzhou East Railway Station with the shortest commuting time at 103 minutes.
The Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway is connected to the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway in the east and the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway in the west. After the full operation of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway, it will further improve the regional road network structure and facilitate travel for people along the line, which is of great significance for promoting high-quality development of the regional economy and society.
