Qinling Giant Panda Research Center welcomes seven adorable cubs in 2023

The Qinling Giant Panda Research Center in Zhouzhi county, Xi'an of Shaanxi province bred seven cubs in 2023 — five males and two females. According to the latest data, the captive population of giant pandas has now reached 49 individuals.

On Aug 9, a male set of twins was born to the giant panda Zheng Zheng. On the same day, the giant panda An An gave birth to a pair of twins, a male and a female.

On Aug 14, the giant panda Ya Ya gave birth to a male cub. On Sept 6, more good news came as the giant panda Ming Ming gave birth to another pair of twins, a male and a female. The second cub weighed less than 60 grams, making it the lightest cub born at the center.

With the care of the staff, its current weight has reached 4 kilograms. The rest of the cubs have reached a weight of 5 kg. All the cubs are in good health.

Shaanxi has been artificially breeding giant pandas since the 1980s. The center has established a mature artificial breeding technology system, and the captive population of giant pandas is steadily increasing.
