International students were impressed following a recent visit to a logistics industrial park in Southwestern China.
Eleven students from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Vietnam, visited an air logistic industrial hub in Yubei district of Southwestern China's Chongqing municipality and a newly established parcel distribution center in the industrial park at the end of last month.
"I am very impressed by the smart automatic sorting system which can handle parcels very fast," said Nguyen Dang from Vietnam.
He also noted that the business environment of Yubei District is very friendly, and local governments support the development of enterprises and offer preferential policy.
In China, the parcel delivery sorting system is unmanned, while in Mongolia, it is not yet automated. The automatic system is so fast, its like magic, said Erdenebat Khulan from Mongolia.
According to Tian Lei, director of the industry investment department from Chongqing Airport Economic Development Construction, the logistic park is conveniently located. In the vicinity of the logistics park, there is another industrial park which is closely located to the city's airport, the Cuntan bonded port area, a railway station and a State logistic hub. Multimodal transportation can be carried out via the airport and the railway station.
"Students were quite interested in the speed of China's parcel delivery system and the accuracy of the automatic sorting system. By visiting the logistics park, closely seeing the process of handling a parcel, international students have a better understanding of Yubei's development and China's development," he said.
Visitors were very interested in the parcel delivery distribution center.
Khulan had a small logistics company in Mongolia. Many processes such as sorting, weighing and wrapping still require workers to operate.
"In China, it is automatic. I learnt a lot at the site and felt the rapid development of China's parcel delivery system. I hope to introduce China's experience to our country," she said.
According to Lei Lili from ZTO Express's Chongqing branch, the center has introduced an automatic sorting system with the capacity to handle 8 million parcels a day.
"Thanks to local government's guidance and assistance, we can settle at the logistic park while enjoying some preferential policies," said Dai Yanning, assistant to the general manager of ZTO in Chongqing.
Yubei District is positioned to build an air, land-sea channel and an international aviation gateway hub in Chongqing.
