The latest edition of the top 100 companies in the Yangtze River Delta region was revealed in Shanghai on Dec 6, providing insight into the flourishing business landscape in one of China's most economically vibrant areas.
Out of the 100 companies listed, five are from Ningbo in Zhejiang province. They include Youngor, Jintian Copper, China-Base Ningbo Group, Aux, and Grand Resources, securing the 35th, 54th, 64th, 89th, and 96th spots, respectively, with Youngor and Aux improving their rankings compared to last year.
In terms of overall performance, the top 100 companies in the Yangtze River Delta region reported total revenue of 20.2 trillion yuan ($2.82 trillion), representing an increase of 6 percent year-on-year. Additionally, 69 companies, including Youngor, Jintian Copper, and China-Base Ningbo, achieved revenues exceeding 100 billion yuan, three more companies than last year.
The entry requirements for the top 100 list have been elevated from 67.9 billion yuan last year to 72.5 billion yuan this year, showcasing the growing competitiveness within the region's business sector. The combined total assets of the top 100 companies have reached 56.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.3 trillion yuan, indicating a year-on-year uptick of 8.23 percent.
Over the past five years, the top 100 companies in the delta region have experienced substantial growth in both revenue and net profits. Revenue has surged from 14.3 trillion yuan to 20.2 trillion yuan, while net profits have risen from 570 billion yuan to 840 billion yuan.
