Qingdao tourism resort named provincial eco-tourism area

Cangmashan International Tourism Resort in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) has made the provincial list of ecological tourism areas, according to a list released by the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Shandong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment on Nov 27.

Cangmashan International Tourism Resort is located at the southern foot of Cangmashan Mountain. It boasts abundant natural resources and excellent air quality, and has a forest coverage rate of 76 percent.

The tourism resort is focused on promoting the development of scientific popularization, mountain sightseeing, tourism, and leisure. In 2018, it was recognized as a national 4A scenic spot and won titles such as China's Most Beautiful Village, National Demonstration Site for Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism, and Shandong Provincial Demonstration Site for Characteristic Tourism.

In recent years, the Cangmashan International Tourism Resort has achieved a balance between ecological protection and environment improvement. Efforts have been made to protect and explore the intangible cultural heritage items in the resort, and traditional temple fairs, local drama and traditional performances, folk crafts, and folk performance programs have been preserved, which have in turn helped boost rural vitalization in the area.

In the future, the local government will create an ecological tourism town that integrates ecological tourism, cultural experiences, sports and leisure, and sightseeing and entertainment,  so as to bring economic benefits to local villagers and further boost rural vitalization.
