Baotou listed in Top 100 Global STI Centers in China 2023

Recently, the Top 100 Global STI Centers in China 2023 (2023 GISC 100) was issued at the Development Forum of the International Center of Science and Technology Innovation, ranking cities nationwide. Baotou city secured the 79th spot among the 295 prefecture-level and above cities participating in the evaluation.

This year, the city has striven to develop itself as the World Green Silicon City and the World Rare Earth City.

The Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone has explored new frontiers in rare earth terminal applications, integrating research, production, sales, and services. The zone has been accelerating the development of R&D design, technology promotion and application, software, and information technology, implementing major projects in productive service industries related to rare earth.

It is reported that the evaluation of 2023 GISC 100 was based on five dimensions – innovative elements, scientific research, technology innovation, industrial transformation, and innovative ecosystem.

While drawing inspiration from the evaluation criteria of the Top 100 Global STI Centers 2023 (2023 GIS 100), this list emphasized indicators with Chinese characteristics. These included the number of national and provincial-level laboratories, national high-tech industrial parks, national innovation industry clusters, and technology-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises.
