The Zhongjun Institute, a professional think tank that focuses on researching and consulting about the economies of local counties, released its "23rd County Economy and County Development Monitoring and Evaluation Report" on Nov 28, naming the top 100 counties in western China in terms of economic competitiveness.
Six districts from Ordos city, including Juungar Banner, Ejin Horoo Banner, Otog Banner, Uxin Banner, Dalad Banner, and Otog Front Banner, were listed, ranking 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 18th, 27th, and 78th, respectively.
Taking the high-quality comprehensive development of county-level economies as its theme, the report contains data 829 county-level economic units in western China.
According to the assessment, there are 216 "strong" county-level economies in the western region each with a total GDP exceeding 20 billion yuan ($2.74 billion), or local public fiscal revenue surpassing 1 billion yuan, accounting for 26.06 percent of the total.
