The China Customs magazine, affiliated with the General Administration of Customs, released the list of the top 100 cities in China for foreign trade in 2022, with Xi'an ranking 20th nationwide and the first in West China.
This has demonstrated the city's strong momentum and resilience in foreign trade development.
The selection of the list is guided by the General Administration of Customs. It is a critical evaluation method to reflect the level and quality of a city's foreign trade development.
From January to October this year, Xi'an's total import and export value reached 294.29 billion yuan ($41.24 billion), with 753 new foreign trade market entities.
The city's trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) amounted to 89.71 billion yuan, an increase of 14.5 percent.
This year, Xi'an has been approved as a pilot zone for processing trade transfer, accelerated the construction of a national processing trade industrial park, and introduced policies and measures to improve foreign trade quality and efficiency.
Xi'an has promoted advantageous products by relying on exhibitions such as the Canton Fair and the China International Import Expo. Trade cooperation exchange meetings have been held in Ningbo, Dongguan, and other places, attracting leading foreign trade companies to establish a presence in Xi'an.
In the fourth quarter, Xi'an will continue to optimize the structure of foreign trade, make every effort to expand international markets, and promote the integration of trade and production, internal and external trade, to provide strong support for the steady and far-reaching development of the city's foreign trade.
