Ordos, a city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was honored as one of the 2023 Happiest Cities in China at the prefecture level, while its Ejin Horoo Banner received the honor at the county level for the third year in a row.
This was announced by Oriental Outlook, a magazine, and the Liaowang Institute, a think tank, both run by Xinhua News Agency, at the Happiest Cities of China Forum 2023, which was held in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Nov 24.
The "Happiest Cities in China" event has been held for the past 17 years and has become the most influential city survey and selection activity in China.
Officials from nearly 50 cities across the country and numerous expert scholars were invited to the forum to discuss urban governance and development in China based on the theme "High-quality development leads to greater happiness in cities."
