Qingdao authorities unveiled 20 cases of reform and innovation in the marine sector, many of which have been promoted at the national and provincial levels, at a recent news conference.
Qingdao has in recent years taken various measures to develop its marine industry. They include utilizing innovative approaches, emulating successful practices, addressing key challenges, enhancing quality and efficiency, and fostering a competitive environment.
Qingdao is currently home to 28 marine-related industries. To drive the development of these industries, authorities have implemented a talent-attraction plan and lured marine talents through major marine projects, major scientific and technological platforms.
In 2022, the city had approximately 1.03 million people engaged in marine economic activities.
The city has implemented a plan to double the number of marine enterprises and roll out policies that would promote further development.
Qingdao has innovated a "whole-process integration" project coordination mechanism, planned the development path of major marine projects, carried out map-based investment promotion focusing on "six tracks", and established a perfect project promotion mechanism of monthly scheduling, quarterly review, semi-annual observation, and annual performance.
