Qingdao recently hosted a press conference to introduce new developments in its rural vitalization efforts.

The city in Shandong province has made concerted efforts to advance the rural vitalization of distinctive industries. Recent years have seen the city scale up support for the upgrading of the agricultural industry.

In the first three quarters of the year, the city fostered 1,027 large-scale agricultural product processing enterprises with a business income of 185.3 billion yuan ($25.91 billion), an increase of 11.6 percent year-on-year.

With its project-driven approach, 58 key projects in the agricultural and rural sectors made significant progress, with a total investment of 7.34 billion yuan, up 10.95 percent year-on-year.

Qingdao has accelerated the development and renewal of villages, significantly improving the rural living environment and enhancing living standards for farmers. The city has six villages in the national-level program for a beautiful and livable countryside, 174 designated as provincial-level beautiful countryside demonstrations, and 700 as municipal-level demonstration villages.

Qingdao is also working to upgrade rural infrastructure. It has comprehensively promoted the rectification and upgrading of rural toilets, better governance of rural domestic sewage, and the improvement of the overall appearance of villages.

This year, Qingdao has actively promoted the implementation of the "12+6" national and provincial rural reform pilot tasks and made strong efforts in the "second half" of rural property rights reforms. Its cumulative rural property rights trade has reached 9.7 billion yuan, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has approved Qingdao as one of 33 whole-city pilots for the standardization of rural property rights transfers.
