The opening ceremony of the School of Microelectronics at Nantong University was held in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 21.
The new school is a result of an integrated development strategy agreement inked between the Nantong municipal government and NTU on Oct 31.
The agreement states that the Nantong government will support NTU in adjusting and improving discipline layout, developing a group of competitive disciplines, and building schools for microelectronics (integrated circuits), artificial intelligence, and ocean studies.
The School of Microelectronics will rely on related majors and provincial laboratories at the university to seek cooperation in talent cultivation and the integration of industry and education revolving around IC materials, equipment, craft, and design in an effort to promote the high-quality development of strategic emerging industries, future industries, and the advanced manufacturing industry.
Founded in 1912, Nantong University includes 22 schools, an independent college, and an affiliated hospital. The university currently employs 3,435 faculty members and has more than 42,000 undergraduates, over 5,200 graduates, and 1,000 international students.
