Bringing to an end the monthlong 10·15 Art Festival, some 100 guzheng (a plucked-string musical instrument) players performed at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing on Nov 15.
The annual event is known for its forums, live performances and workshops, in which artists from around the world take part.
The guzheng performance was by students and teachers from the Central Conservatory of Music, and featured both classic and contemporary pieces. Students from Lankao county in Henan province also took part in the performance.
Lankao is a center of making guzheng due to its abundance of paulownia, the wood used to make the ancient Chinese instrument.
The Central Conservatory of Music has been working with the county to promote local guzheng manufacturers, as well as to help train local guzheng players.
