A Boeing 747-300F cargo plane from Moscow arrived at Ordos Ejin Horoo International Airport in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region at 10:00 on Nov 15.

After several hours of maintenance and cargo handling, it departed from Ordos airport at 16:40 carrying nearly 100 metric tons of machinery equipment worth $3.5 million bound for the Russian capital.

This marked the official opening of the first air route for cargo between the two cities.

After its official launch, the route will run two flights a week, with an average cargo volume of 100 tons per flight, and a daily round-trip capacity of up to 200 tons.

The exported cargo mainly consists of machinery equipment, electronic products, and daily necessities. Meanwhile, imports from Russia primarily include dried fruit, fresh and frozen aquatic products, and edible aquatic animals from Russia and Central Asia.

The opening of the route is expected to bring rapid growth to both the import and export cargo volume handled by the Ordos airport, catering to the transportation needs of various types of goods under different trade methods.
