"China is the future of the automotive industry, with rapid development, talent, and a strong embrace of new technologies. Changan Auto Co is a leading player in this regard, making it a dream destination for designers," said Klaus Zyciora, former Global Head of Design for Volkswagen Group, in an interview. He joined Changan Auto in early October.
Data indicates that Changan Auto has established 16 technology and product research and development centers, along with 17 technology companies, boasting a team of over 17,000 technical researchers from 30 countries around the world.
In 2021, Han Sanchu, former CTO of Huawei Technologies Co's global technical services, also joined Changan Auto as the Chief software architect and CTO.
Amid the globalization wave, Changan Auto continues to intensify efforts to attract talents in fields such as new energy, intelligence, software, design, and internationalization.
Through strategic talent initiatives, Changan Auto has made significant strides in core technology autonomy and control. From January to August this year, the company applied for 4,420 patents, averaging 18 patents per day, with a total of over 23,000 patent applications. This ranks Changan Auto first in the industry for the number of patents published in the field of intelligence.
In addition, Changan Auto's automotive multimedia integration technology standards have become the first International Telecommunication Union (ITU) series international standards among Chinese automakers.
By 2030, Changan Auto plans to invest a total of 200 billion yuan ($27.88 billion) and expand its research team by adding more than 10,000 members.
