Matthias Heinzel, a member of the Executive Board and CEO of Life Science business at Merck Group, visited Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 14 to discuss further cooperation.
Du Xiaogang, Party secretary of Wuxi, introduced the city's biological medicine industry at a meeting with Heinzel.
The biological medicine industry is an important part of the modern industrial clusters in Wuxi while as a world-leading biological medicine company, Merck Group highly fits with the city's industrial development.

Du said that he hopes Merck will continue paying attention to Wuxi, invest more in the city, bring more high-end resources including technologies and talent to it, and cooperate with Wuxi in more fields including high-performance materials.
Heinzel introduced Merck Life Science, noting that China is the core market and growth driver of Merck Life Science around the world.
Wuxi boasts a huge potential in the biological medicine industry and Merck Life Science values cooperation with Wuxi and will continue its production in the city, Heinzel added.
In 2012, SigmaaAldrich Biochemical Technology Co under Merck Life Science was put into operation in Wuxi New District and 10 years later, Merck Group invested 100 million euros ($108.70 million) to build a manufacturing base for disposable technical products in the city, which is expected to start trial operation next year.
