The ABB Robotics Open Innovation Lab for Life Science and Healthcare was put into operation at Zhangjiang Robot Valley in Pudong, East China's Shanghai on Oct 27.
Wu Qiang, deputy director of Pudong, said that robots are the driving force for the development of manufacturing industry, and will help promote the upgrading of all areas of the region's economic and social development.
"We hope that the ABB Robotics Open Innovation Lab for Life Science and Healthcare will rely on the mature industrial supporting facilities and platforms in Zhangjiang to empower enterprises, accelerate innovation, and jointly build a robot ecosystem to contribute to the flourishing development of Zhangjiang Robot Valley," said Wu.
"The continuous development of industrial robots and artificial intelligence technology provides more opportunities for automation in the life sciences and healthcare industries," said Mark Segura, global president of ABB Robotics Business.
"Based on ABB Robotics' nearly 50 years of automation experience, the new lab in Zhangjiang will enhance ABB's professional knowledge and technological expertise in these fields, help local enterprises tackle global challenges such as labor shortages and rising energy costs, and enable them to achieve more stable, agile, and efficient operations," Segura added.
