Baotou city, a major industrial base in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received a delegation from the Dornogovi province of neighboring country Mongolia on Nov 5-7.
Led by the province's governor, O.Batjargal, delegate members were warmly greeted by Zhang Rui, mayor of Baotou, and his team.
During the visit, Zhang emphasized the strong foundation of cooperation between China and Mongolia – highlighting their adjacency and the significance of Baotou as a key city involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor.
Baotou, as the Chinese industrial city closest to Mongolia, is said to have offered numerous opportunities for trade and commerce with Dornogovi province.
Zhang called on the two sides to further expand their cooperation in areas such as rare earth minerals, solar power and other mineral resources and energy sectors.
The goal is to create more efficient, secure and eco-friendly Belt and Road cooperation projects.
Governor Batjargal, for his part, praised Baotou's solid industrial foundation and comprehensive industrial ecosystem.
He looked forward to deepening cooperation between Dornogovi and Baotou in various fields – including port developments, mineral resource exploration and new energy utilization, culture and tourism, as well as medical services – to achieve mutually beneficial development for both regions.
During the visit, Dornogovi province's delegation explored various sites of interest, including the Baotou Museum, the Baotou Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Beiben Trucks Group Co and the Baogang Group.
