Senior diplomats explore integration of science and technology diplomacy in Yantai

The 2023 Senior Diplomats of the Home of Science and Technology Diplomats·Yantai Tour kicked off in the Huang-Bohai New Area, Yantai city, Shandong province on Nov 2.

The event was aimed at bringing together experts in the field of science and technology diplomacy to discuss the integration of science and technology with diplomacy. 

The participants of the tour included senior diplomats and science and technology counselors from the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as foreign ambassadors.

The three-day tour included visits to Wanhua Chemical, Rongchang Pharmaceuticals, and other enterprises which provided valuable opportunities for networking between political and business figures in Yantai.

A salon for senior diplomats focusing on the challenges and opportunities of international science and technology cooperation in the new era was also held.

The Yantai tour for diplomats aims to build a "circle of friends" in the field of science and technology diplomacy and contribute to Yantai's industrial development.

Yantai has been actively holding technology and talent exchanges and cooperation to further its development in these areas. The city has also been expanding its innovation pathways, deepening collaboration with Japan and South Korea, and establishing cooperative relationships with more than 200 international colleges and research institutes in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
